Work-Life Balance Is a Scam. Let’s Talk Capacity.
We’ve all heard it: find balance. Like the magical sweet spot between work and life is just waiting for us to stumble into it - like a perfectly ripe avocado. Bullsh!t. Balance isn’t something you find. It’s something you manufacture. And even then? It rarely looks like those dreamy Instagram reels.
Here’s the thing nobody likes to say out loud: you don’t actually need balance. You need an honest look at your capacity. Some seasons of life demand more of you. Some seasons let you breathe. Pretending you can “have it all” at the same damn time just sets you up to feel like a failure when you inevitably drop a few balls.
Psychologically, we know that running at full tilt without boundaries leads straight to burnout. You can’t be everything to everyone at once and you don’t have to be. So, stop trying to split yourself evenly into neat little buckets. You’re one whole human being, not two halves fighting for time.
Look at your life, your energy, your responsibilities and decide what fits right now. Say no to the rest, unapologetically. You’re not lazy. You’re not broken. And you sure as hell don’t owe anyone a perfect performance.
Balance is a scam. But knowing your limits? That’s power.
